A Different Perspective: Photographing Ali and Camillo’s Mallorca Wedding
For Ali and Camillo, keeping their wedding as natural and relaxed as possible was a priority. Having first met on Mallorca, the island held a special place in their story, making it the perfect setting for an intimate celebration at Ca s'Hereu, near Port de Sóller. They chose to have us photograph their wedding without video coverage, allowing them to enjoy the day surrounded by their closest family and friends, who had travelled from around the world to celebrate with them.
For us, this was a rare and genuinely exciting opportunity. As a Mallorca wedding photography and filmmaking duo, we usually divide our attention between capturing still images and filming the day. This time, we could focus entirely on photography, giving every moment our full attention. Petra was especially happy to return to her first creative passion, photography, and immerse herself in telling Ali and Camillo’s story through still images.
Working together as two photographers also gave us a wonderful advantage: we could capture the same moments from multiple perspectives at once. Rather than rushing between photography and filmmaking, we could work in harmony, anticipate moments together, and notice the small gestures and spontaneous interactions that might otherwise go unseen. This allowed us to document the wedding at a more natural pace, preserving the atmosphere of the celebration and the genuine connections between everyone present.
For us, photographing Ali and Camillo’s intimate Mallorca wedding was a reminder of how rewarding it can be to focus on a single medium. The resulting collection reflects not only the beauty of Ca s'Hereu and its surroundings near Port de Sóller, but also the relaxed atmosphere and personal moments that made their wedding uniquely theirs.
An Unplanned Outdoor Ceremony at Ca s'Hereu, Mallorca
Despite the dramatic weather that greeted us on arrival, Ali and Camillo’s wedding unfolded with a remarkable sense of calm. The ceremony had originally been planned outdoors, but heavy rain meant the chairs had been moved into a narrow room barely three metres wide. When we first saw the setup, we could only hope the weather would give us another option. For wedding photographers, a cramped indoor ceremony with limited space and almost no room to move is about as challenging as it gets.
But Ali and Camillo’s celebration had a character of its own. As guests began arriving, many happily ignored the rain and headed outside to greet the couple. We quickly found ourselves among the guests, and it did not take long to feel at home. There was an unmistakable Australian ease to the atmosphere, not just in the relaxed fashion choices, but in the personalities themselves. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and the warmth of the people made the weather feel like a minor detail.
Then, just as we approached the ceremony, the rain stopped. It was almost as if someone had rewritten the script at the last minute. The humid Mallorcan air, soft clouds, and extraordinary sunset light created a backdrop we could hardly have planned more beautifully. We quickly spoke with Ali and Camillo about moving the ceremony back outside, this time to the poolside at Ca s'Hereu, where the landscape and evening sky could become part of the experience.
There was no time to rearrange the chairs, so everyone gathered around and stood for the ceremony. Ali even took off her shoes, embracing the moment exactly as it was. Without rows of perfectly aligned seats or a carefully staged setting, the ceremony felt wonderfully spontaneous and personal. The changing weather, the people gathered close together, and the soft, misty Mallorcan sunset created an atmosphere that no elaborate setup could have replicated.
Honestly, it was one of the most authentic wedding ceremonies we have ever photographed. What began as a photographer’s worst-case scenario turned into something far more beautiful: an intimate outdoor wedding in Mallorca that unfolded entirely on its own terms, surrounded by the people who mattered most.
An Effortlessly Relaxed Celebration at Ca s'Hereu, Mallorca
After the ceremony, the celebrations continued in a way that felt completely true to Ali and Camillo. Honestly, they had barely walked back down the aisle before they were already holding freshly opened beers. We loved that about them. There was no need for a grand transition or a carefully orchestrated moment. They were married, surrounded by their favourite people, and ready to enjoy every second of it.
As the evening unfolded at Ca s'Hereu, guests gathered over delicious artisan pizzas, sharing stories, laughter, and long conversations. One of the things we love most about photographing intimate weddings in Mallorca is having the opportunity to witness these genuine connections up close. With family and friends travelling from different parts of the world, seeing everyone come together so naturally was something special. The atmosphere felt less like a formal event and more like a gathering of people who were genuinely happy to be there for Ali and Camillo.
We finished this part of the day with a short couple’s portrait session, taking advantage of the beautiful surroundings near Port de Sóller. Rather than turning it into an elaborate photoshoot, we kept things relaxed and gave Ali and Camillo a little time together while capturing portraits that felt natural to them.
Afterwards, we stayed a little longer to document a few final candid moments before saying our goodbyes. We left Ca s'Hereu with wonderful memories of a wedding that reminded us why we love being Mallorca wedding photographers: not because everything goes according to plan, but because the most meaningful moments often happen when people feel free to be entirely themselves.
